Our mission is to provide a central facility for the preservation and promotion of the history, language, culture, and heritage of individuals of Czech ethnicity who can trace their ancestry to the Czechs who immigrated from the present-day Czech Republic or former Austria-Hungary (including Bohemia, Moravia, Slovakia, and Silesia), to honor those immigrants, and to operate exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary, and educational purposes. The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center signed the contract to begin construction on its Library, Museum and Archives to be built on its 70-acre site located next to the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange, Texas.  The long-awaited event took place on May 27, 2008 at the Kalich House.  Directors of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center signed a $1,658,288 contract with Gaeke Construction Company from Giddings, Texas.   On hand for the signing were La Grange Mayor Janet Moerbe who stated that the city is very proud of its role in bringing the center to La Grange.  Fayette County Judge Ed Janecka and City Manager Shawn Raborn were also on hand to witness the momentous occasion.   

The Library, Museum and Archives building was designed by Austin Architect Roger H. Kolar of Negrete and Kolar Architects.  The complex will contain an entry lobby, exhibit areas, genealogy research library, catering kitchen connected to a multi-purpose hall, meeting room, gift shop and office.
