The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center Office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon. Currently, weekend hours are by special arrangement only. For more information call (toll-free): 1-888-785-4500. We are located in La Grange at 250 W. Fairgrounds Road which is located immediately at the entrance to the Fayette County Fairgrounds on Highway 77 North, one-quarter mile north of intersection of Highways 77 and the Highway 71 Bypass. This large tract of land offered by the City of La Grange for the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center has highway and river frontage and lies within the city limits adjacent to the county fairgrounds. The topography, which is similar to the homelands of the Czech immigrants, includes a high bluff that affords an expansive view of the beautiful Colorado River valley. Large oak trees, a pecan orchard, and cleared land enhance the site. Lying in the bend of the Colorado River at the crossroads of Highways 77 and 71, La Grange is centrally located in the triangle between the three major cities of Austin, Houston and San Antonio and is only a short distance from IH-10 and HWY 290. Czech immigrants arrived in Fayette
County in the 1850's, and to this day, their ethnic influence is still
evident, especially at the many Czech festivals and cultural events held
annually. Scenic drives throughout the rolling countryside lead to many
interesting Czech historic sites, the most notable of which are the picturesque
painted Czech churches. Colorful spring wildflower trails add to your
enjoyment as you experience the slower pace of rural life in Fayette County.
